Sight Words
Each week your student will come home with a new list of sight word flashcards. These are words that do not follow typical phonetic rules, making it difficult to use decoding strategies to sound them out. These words are also very commonly used words, and will be ones your student sees and/or uses often as he/she reads and writes.
Please encourage your student to practice these sight words each week. Students should work to read these words on sight and be able to spell them correctly in their writing. At the end of each quarter, we will test over the entire list of sight words that came home during that 9 weeks.
